Webster Puts Lindbergh on Ice -- Webster 16, Lindbergh 5

How cold was it? Well, I went out to dinner after the game and two hours later when I got home the ice packs in my cooler bag were still well frozen. Just sayin’.....
Despite a home plate umpire that, well, perhaps has some things to improve upon, we adjusted, regained our footing with a big second inning and kept the pedal down to cruise to a 16-5 win over an outmatched Flyer squad. However, I want to point out that, in my experience, criticism of umpiring from either the bench or the stands is counterproductive and results in more calls against our girls than for them.
Strong left side defense snuffed out Lindbergh rallies and the bats woke up to 16 hits and strong, aggressive base running up and down the lineup, backing a strong effort by AnnaClaire Bryant who notched her 3rd win. Our record is now 3-2.
Emma Hintze had two hits, scored four runs, and drove in two. Karlee Scholtes and Grace Behrle added a pair of hits each, while Olivia Weik, our designated thief, pilfered three bases and scored a pair of runs, despite having a hand in a cast.
It was a strong team effort, everyone available had at least one AB, and the girls gave each other good support. We have a busy two weeks coming up, with games scheduled 9 of the next 10 days, plus a tournament at the end. We have some home cooking the first three games of next week, so lots of opportunities come watch the development of our girls.
