If some wins are better than
others (see Friday vs. Festus), some losses are tougher than others, like
today’s, which featured a bad combo: we were kind of flat, perhaps an
emotional let down from Friday, and we were unlucky, hitting at least six ropes
that found gloves. Apparently I didn’t get the memo that this JV game was being
televised on ESPN-HS and there was a big, gold trophy... wait, this just in, no
none of that is true. Oh well, it will make next year’s victory that much
sweeter, because I’m convinced that if we played the Falcons 10 times, we’d win
8 of those match-ups. Or maybe we’ll get to prove that even this year, if we
get to meet them this weekend in the Francis Howell Tournament, ideally for the
championship. See the bracket below:
Despite Hannah Love’s
outstanding day at the plate and in the field, we just could never get traction
and never even threatened until the sixth and seventh. I don’t think the Summit
coach slowing down the game to whine, I mean argue, about every call he didn’t
like, which was every one that went against his perfect vision, had much to do
with the pace, but it left an unpleasant taste. I would also suggest it did
nothing to help his team get any calls.
We have three more games
this week, Kirkwood at home, NW-House Springs away, and Nerinx at our field,
although we may be the visitors. The Northwest game will be a non-starter start
as we try to find time for all our players to develop. Nerinx may be one, as
well. Each player will get at least one full game in the tournament Saturday. Enjoy the pictures from Amy Love.
